Meridian 59 was the first 3D massively multiplayer game, released in 1996. Meridian 59 was one of the earliest massively-multiplayer online games.
The game would run over 9600 baud modems, it would have 2D graphics (Doom hadn’t been released yet), and the minimum hardware would be a 486/66.
